  • pre-render export very slow

    Hi
When i render vray have to run through the animation before it starts to render, sometimes for a very long time.
It doesn´t happen when i uncheck the Physical camera,.
Does it have to be so slow? really annoying with very long animations.

    Hi clabbster,

What V-Ray/Maya/OS versions do you use? Anything particular in your setup, for instance: physical camera in movie mode (not "still"), do you render in DR using a render job manager or a batch job?

      Hi.

      I use:
      Maya 2012
      Vray 2.20.01
      Windows 7 Pro
      physical camera type: Movie camera
I render i viewport. no DR

Nothing particular with this scene, it happens i all my scenes when they get large.

Do you have motion blur enabled and/or using Velocity Render element (or other REs for that matter)?

I disabled MB and DOF and all RE:s
I also tried to remove the physical camera and added it again with default settings. Still very slow.
We ha a rig with alot of constraints, when i removed the rig the render worked fine, so is there something with all the constraints that slows down the pre-render export?

Would it be possible to test with a nightly build and see if the issue still persists? I believe there might have been a related issue that we've fixed in the nightlies. If you don't have access to those, please email our support@chaosgroup.com.

Wow, it works now. no more slow pre-render export.
              Thanks

Should i keep this version? is it stable? or do you recommend to go back again?

                    clabbster:
You should tell us also the revision number, because all nightlies for V-Ray 2 for the last year or so are marked as 22501.
You can find the revision in the name .rar archive, which you've downloaded.
