  • Vray blend material problem alpha

    hey,

this is driving me nuts and i know that it's obviously a simple problem
but i can't fix the failure.

Imagine you have big plane which has a red color.
I i want to map a texture onto that plane which is a circle and
only inside the cirlce the texture should be visible.

I just can't get the result with the vray blend mateial.
I can always see the square boundary of the alpha mat whatever i do.
    This is so ridiculous.

    Please give me an advise.

    regards

I have assigned the vrayblendmtl to the plane.
The base slot is a standard vraymatl with a red color.
the first coat slot is a standard vraymtl with the texture assigned to the diffuse slot.
the alpha is assigned to the opacity slot.

And the alpha is also assigned to the mask slot of the coar mtl in the blendmtl.

ID:	847851it seems so be a problem with the place3dtexure node.
when i set WrapU and WrapV off i can clearly see the boundary.

when they are on it seems to work , but i don't want a tiling.

What is the format of your image ? png ?
It is because you have compressed image, or it is the filter.

To resolve this, you can create a ramp to type Box ramp, black and white, and create the alpha with this ramp.

        hey mate,

i got this failure with every image it doesn't matter.
But now it comes, i could fix this and in my view this is a bug.
You have to set the default color of the textures ( color and Alpha ) to black!
Now the boundary has gone, unbeliveable isn't it?
Under Color Balance of the texture node there is Default Color / Color Gain etc
and when setting Default Color to black everything works as it should.
        Holy Moly...

Unfortunately this issue is not related to Vray - it is related to Maya texture support.
Here is the same scenario with Maya Software Renderer and blending between PNG-image with alpha and RAMP-texture , assigned into LayeredTexture node.
