    Hi

yeah it happens when im running both RT and adjusting sliders in the attribute editor then trying to render....
basically i thought it might be a scene issue. i thought i would lookdev to set up basics....
    . so i opened a new scene
    . added a sphere
    . assigned the shader
    . then started tweaking

thats all im doing... im trying to keep it as simple as possible..

Does this (by any chance) happen right after you add (or unhide) some geometry using the shader AND/OR right after (re)starting the RT?

And another important question that would help us narrow down the cause - do you remember the crash being somehow connected to the parameter called "flake map size"?

I believe it is the swatch rendering that's causing the crash (and the fact that you have hidden geometry with the same shader). We had a related issue that was fixed, but it was probably after the 2.30 release). In any case, you can do one of two things to avoid the crash: either disable the swatch rendering (from the auto-update option of the shader's swatch or by going into Window > Rendering editors > V-Ray > render swatches) or by contacting our support@chaosgroup.com to arrange your access to the nightly builds, where this problem no longer occurs.

          I hope that helps.

            Thank you very much

i will give that a try... it makes sense because i was getting a slight freeze when previewing the swatch...i will try your suggestion and post results
