  • Importing material from vrscene seems broken...

    Hey guys,

i don't know why exactly this doesn't work anymore, but maybe you have an answer...

We have scenes from evermotion that we'd like to convert from MAX to Maya....geometry is going fine, but when we export a .vrscene from max and try to load it in maya there are no shaders showing up anymore....

My suspicion is, that it's because we use a vray demobuild for exporting from max, since we have no license...could that be?
Or is that due to the different vray version we use in max (vray2.4 demo for max 2014 from Jul 01, 2013) and maya ( vray 2.4 nightly build 23406 from Aug 7 )
BTW: there is also a typo in the vraysceneexporter script in max.....you should change casutics to caustics

    cheers
    Oliver
if you need a scene i can send it to you tomorrow morning...

    Hi,

I suppose that you are using the right click exporter in V-Ray 2.40 Demo for 3DS Max, could you confirm this?

The Vrscene exporter from the V-Ray RT engine (3ds max) should export all scene materials even if you use a Demo version.
Transferring materials form V-Ray Demo 2.4 > Maya V-Ray 2.4 nightly build 23406 works fine in simple test.

If you still have any problems it will be best to look at your scene materials.
