  • VrayFastSSS2 not compatible with vrmesh?

I've been unable to successfully render out a vrmesh animated sequence (realflow) using a blend with a VraysFastSSS2 as my base material. Through some testing, it appears the problem lies with the sss material.

Can anyone confirm this? A standard material renders fine btw.

Ok, so after some searching and more tests apparently this is a known issue going back as far as 2011 or earlier. The problem arises in the way that the ply2vrmesh handles the realflow bin mesh. My normals were inverted!

Why hasn't his been fixed as of yet? A note should at least be made in the docs on how to deal with this.

    I found a solution here:

      Hm,

The issue in the topics you link should have been fixed at the beginning of the year.
Can you tell me what conversion options are you using?
We've added new option that must be used for real-flow files: -flipXPosZ but I'm not sure if it handles normals correctly.
Do you have a minimal example realflow that reproduces the problem?
