  • Blend material and SSS material

    Hi,

I am having a slight issue when using the SSS material with the Blend material.

I am trying to add a layer of wetness over my character. In order to do that with a blend material, I layer a Vray material, with specular and transparency. But for some reason, this make my SSS partly transparent.
My work around is to make the vray material black and none transparent and use the additive mode.

From the image attached you can see the gum of the character showing through.
Is this suppose to happen? The material on top of the SSS shouldn't affect it.

    Thanks,

I only got this behavior here if both geometries intersects each other - and Additive mode doesn't solve the issue in this case.
It is well known that refractive-materials could produce weird results if their geometry is intersected by other geometry - so SSS + Refractive VrayMtl will be something similar.
Make sure that the teeth beneath doesn't intersect the skin-geometry.

It would be very helpful for us if you send us a part of your scene in order to investigate whether this is a bug or something else.
Thank you very much in advance.

Hm you are right; it shouldn't affect it. Can you post your material settings? Does the "wet" layer have any refraction in it?

      Best regards,
