  • animation prepass not picking up after Maya restart

We have a issue which raises it's ugly head once in a while mainly when Maya has to do be restarted and pick up rendering where it left off.

On restarting Maya the render half way though a rendering process, using animation prepass method never seems to pick up the vrmaps that were created.

All maps from the restart point have to be re calculated again to get round this issue.
It seems that because Maya restarted it seems to have lost some necessary information (maybe in memory) which gets lost after restart.

Using Maya 2014 with latest release (not nightlies).
We had this issue in the past with VRay 1.5 also.

It doesn't happen always which is a real pain, just can't work out what is causing it. I can supply scene files maps if need be.

    Thanks for your help

Scene files would be helpful, yes, but can you briefly outline the steps before that happens? What maps do you cache out? You first render to cache out the maps, then load them, then start rendering and maya crashes? Are you doing a batch render, DR? Any info will be helpful, especially about random issues.
