  • Does Maya DR works on cross OS ?

    Hi,
i'm trying to use v-ray for maya , using the DR feature, and i successfully got good results with only pc nodes, but when i try to render using mac nodes, all the mac nodes loses their textures.
Any ideias how to make Is it possible ?

    Thanks.

The easiest way is to use a nightly build with the automatic assets transfer feature. Another option is to set the VRAY_ASSETS_PATH environment variable on the render server. Yet another option is to use some environment variable in the texture file names to define the starting path, something like {$TEXPATH}/path/to/texture.jpg where the TEXPATH variable is correctly set up on the Windows and Linux servers.

We use DR over Windows/Linux by using network paths (UNC) rather than drive letters. Now, Linux does not support UNC paths, but what you can do is you can mount a folder in the Linux root (/) which is called whatever your server is called (or its IP address), so the path //servername/share/project or //10.0.0.1/share/project would be reachable any platform.
