  • multichannel exr issues

When rendering multichannel exrs from our linux farm (Fedora 15), Maya will often throw a Signal 15 and crash. I thought at first that this is because vray is constantly writing to the exr file, but I am able to render a vrimg file just fine. Other image formats render fine too.

    Is this a bug?

    Thanks,
    Karl

What VRay and Maya versions do you use?
Do you render in DR and if yes - are any render manager apps involved (backburner, deadline, etc)?

we are running Maya 2013(without the extension) and vray for maya 2.40.01 on both our windows workstations and our linux farm. Our farm is managed by qube, which uses the maya command line to render a frame. A typical command line looks like this:

      /local/prod/autodesk/aw_maya2013/maya2013-x64/bin/Render -r vray -proj /laika/house/jobs/mm_truthOrDare/cg/maya -cam CMcamera:render_cam -s 1 -e 1 -b 1 -pad 4 -rd /laika/house/jobs/mm_truthOrDare/images/shots/mmtd_truth/mmtd_truth_040/mmtd_truth_040_vrayTest -im mmtd_truth_040_vrayTest -of "exr (multichannel)" /laika/house/jobs/mm_truthOrDare/cg/maya/scenes/shots/mmtd_truth/mmtd_truth_040/mmtd_truth_040_vrayTest.ma

OK, thanks for the info. We'll do some tests here and we'll let you know what we find.
