  • Irradiance Map with SSS

    Hello,

I am trying to use the "irradiance-map - use camera path" workflow, for animated cameras and object scenes,
and everything is working perfectly fine, only using sss or hair materials, I run into the problem,
that there is no "use irradiance map" switch that I could turn of.

Is there a workaround, like porting these shaders into a regular VrayMtl?

    Thnx in advance
    Martin

SSS Materials currently doesn't have option for Brute Force calculation - however you could use Scatter GI option in combination with Prepass Rate value in this situation.

I've done a few tests with pre-calculated Irradiance Map and it works much better, here are two samples with and without it:

You may also consider using a Nightly Build version of Vray since there are some improvements in regards of VraySSS material like Geometry Based Sampling and etc.

Vray Hair Material has an option for Brute Force calculation but its name is Use Cached GI and by default is ON = Use Irradiance Map , just turn it OFF and Vray will use Brute Force approach:
