  • Cannot restore cache on PhoenixFD 2.10.10 (Maya)

Hey guys, since updating to 2.10.10 we are having troubles restoring caches. We have velocity export on, but no luck. Any thoughts?

//Error: Phoenix FD: Fatal error during simulation restore! Invalid cache file, or missing backup channel.

The restore option was changed and now it requires the backup to be on, not just the velocity.

Do you mean the backup interval? Do I change the old defaults of Storage quality 14, and backup interval -1?

Yes. The backup interval should be >=0 to restore the simulation. It was initially presented to store the velocity channel at regular time intervals. However it turned out that we need to store some internal data and this option will take care. There is still a way to restore fire/smoke simulation only with velocity in the recent builds. It's hidden since it may or may not work. If you really need it, write to the phoenix mail and I will tell you how to enable it.
