When I render a deep EXR the zdepth looks fine in the viewport, but if I render it on the renderfarm and pull the image into nuke, the zdepth pass has jagged edges, like it is not anti-aliased or something. Does anybody know why this is happening and how to fix it? And yes, filtering is checked on in the render element. Using Adaptive DMC 1-24. Beauty and all other passes are fine...it's just zdepth.

Rendering Deep EXR's - zdepth jagged edges?

You don't want aliasing on the depth pass -
Aliasing creates a gradient of colors between edges as it smooths them. When the colors represent depth, you'd get odd information between objects and the object behind/intersecting it. Maybe someone else can explain it better...Brendan Coyle | www.brendancoyle.com

Well the thing is, when I do a non deep EXR image, the zdepth pass looks fine as always. But when I switch it to Deep it looks VERY jagged. There is some difference that Deep is making...
This is the first time we are experimenting with Deep compositing in production, and this is the first problem that we have come across.Last edited by X14Halo; 14-04-2014, 04:49 PM.
