  • Baked gi Flickering lines on flat surfaces.

    Got this very weird problem.

Has this scene with animation for 200 frames.

    Very subtle camera movement only.

This is the workflow and the result it produced.

    Gi settings

    Irriadiance map

    Bruteforce

We baked every 25 frame and used incremential add to current map.

When this is done we switched of bruteforce and ambient occlusion, and set the mode to "from file" and pointed to the baked irmap

Rendering seemed to go fine until 100 frames later when there is very bad flickering on one of the walls.
We can cleary see that in the irmap that there is a pattern on the wall from the windows letting light in. However the strange thing is that the flickering only occours on say 10 frames and the rest of the animation is fine.

Also tried baking from different cameras with different angles to sample the irmap from other angles to see if it helped.
    What might the problem be?

    Hi,

It will be very difficult to say what is the reason for those render artifacts without the scene file. Would it be possible to send us the file or part of it to our support mail : support@chaosgroup.com ?

If the file is is too big we can supply our FTP server. Thank you.

Please include this thread as a note when you prepare your mail.
