  • Urgent: batch render with tiled exr only render 1 frame

Hey guys first post here, I have a big problem, I've convert all my texture to tiled Exr (with image to tile multiresolution Exr converter) due to texture size and memory problem, everything works great in render view, but problem occur when I batch render, it only render the first frame and stop saying render is complete. If I keep only one texture tiled it does the same but render fine if I put it back in Tga.

    Any idea, it's really urgent.

    thanks a lot

    edit:
    Using maya 2014 sp2 with vray 2.4.01

Which OS? Also, are you rendering through backburner, or you run Maya batch from the UI?

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Yes sorry if I was unclear, I run the batch from maya and we're using Win7

did you specify render animation range in the globals?

You actually do not need to do a maya style batch render, just use vray globals to render the range.

Yes of course it's specify in the globals, like I said animation rendering works fine once I convert the tiled exr back to tga.
What do you mean by vray globals?

What I do is simply set the render setting and throw a batch render. Something that I never had trouble with.

thanks for the answers anyway guys.

Everything working fine before the tiled-exr-conversation?
Have you tried to render the scene with the latest 2.40.02?
Would it be possible to send the scene for investigation?

haven't try with vray 2.40.02 but reinstalling all vray right now will be complicated as our It guys is not here for few day.
Will send you a scene so you'll can take a look if it works for you, that would be really great.

This comes as urgent as we need to render some shots for a movie

Ps: You have to convert the tga yourself because the tileExr I had was too big to put on your server..sorry for the inconvenience.

Thank you very much for the scene.
I managed to reproduce the issue even with version 2.40.02.
Fortunately this seems to be fixed in the latest Nightly Builds so if you have access you could download it, install it and this issue should not appear any more.

Thank you for looking at it, I was hoping a workaround..
I have no clue if we have access to the nighties but I guess yes. Is there a link for it?, I will pass it back to the IT guy. In the meantime I'm stuck..

Thanks again I'm surprise no one has raised before this as I thought multiTiled Exr were a norm on bigger project.

Most people on big projects use the nightlies... and they don't use batch render from Maya GUI

No, I think it's a bug in our code actually for the official build - we will look into it. It will probably work if you render one frame at a time, but there seems to be a problem when rendering multiple frames in one go.
