  • Vray lights in Viewport 2.0 DX11

    Hi,
in viewport 2.0 with DX11 I can't see any vray lights but with open GL it works
I use a Quadro 4000 and Maya 2015. Any advice?

    Thanks!

It won't work. All the V-Ray viewport code is coded in GLSL.

I don't know if this will ever work; we have enough on our plate with the renderer itself. Having to redo the viewport code on top of that with every Maya release is not something that we are thrilled about.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Thanks! Seems that Maya releases are always more complicated than 3DS Max

It seems so... 3ds Max was made for Windows only, which simplify the work a lot. Maya seems to be using the NVIDIA cg shader compiler which work with both OpenGL and DirectX, however the shaders themselves are not the only thing we must rewrite from scratch. To support all Viewport 2.0 features, we must almost reimplement it, which is not plausable. Autodesk are working every year on improving Viewport 2.0, so hopefully they will implement at some point what we need to supprot it better.
