  • how can one manipulate the Water Shader height and/or vector displacement?

ok so I have a grid that I'm using the vray water shader on. and I have waves I want to use a map to make the waves higher in some areas and lower in others. I have tried feeding this into the height multiplier and I have tried feeding into the displacement amount. I even tried feeding in to the scale value of the maya displacement shader it runs thru but nothing seems to have any effect.

can someone tell me how one might accomplish this?

hmmm vray water shader? I think you suppose to use vray water texture. You create vray displacement attribute node and place your water geo in it. Connect your vray water tex to that node. There, set the displacement method to vector, then you can control the waves etc.

Feel free to attach the scene if you still have troubles with it after Morbid Angel's advice.
