  • Motion blur in Vray for maya on alembic from Houdini with changing point count

    Hi,

I'm reading everywhere that this is possible but I can't find any requirements for this to work.

-I've exported an alembic from houdini with velocity info on the points and vertices (promoted the point attr to a vertex attr)
but do I need to do something else here? I know this is not a houdini forum but maybe you know.

-Import alembic in maya and then convert this to a vrayproxy with velocity on.

    I'm not getting motion blur..

    any tips?

(we are on vray 2.4001 maybe that's why?)

Why don't you load the Alembic file directly in a V-Ray proxy object? Also, how is your velocity channel named?

    Best regards,
    Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.

Not sure if you solved this already, but you may want to keep the velocity vector as a point attrs when baking out your alembic caches.
Have you tried using the SOuP plugin to vizualize the data coming from houdini within maya?
It's been very handy for us.

      Cheers.
