  • Vray RT 3.0 Maya 2015- CUDA - localhost not responding

    Hey,

I'm trying to use the CUDA mode of Vray RT in Vray 3.0 ( 3.05.03, revision 24769 from Jul 26 2014, 04:32:27 ), but I keep getting this error:

// Warning: line 1: [SettingsTGA] No image writer specified. //
    // Warning: line 1: Render host nrkdt61862 (127.0.0.1:20207) is not responding //

I have a Quadro K5000 and a Tesla K20s running Nvidia 333.11 in Maximus mode.

Is there a locked port that could be stopping it from starting? I tried turning off my Antivirus and letting Vray.exe through the firewall but no luck.

OpenCL mode works just fine though....

Can you show us the logs from the render slaves?
Most of the times "not responding" means that the vray server has crashes on the other side.

Ah, this isn't for DR, I'm trying to use VRay RT on my main computer (no slaves).
127.0.0.1 is localhost. So it's having trouble contacting itself (?).

By the way, is there a way to see what GPU devices V-Ray is using? I'm having doubts about whether my Tesla K20 is actually doing any computing, or if it's all on the K5000.

You can inspect the logs of the slaves and there you can see what devices are used for rendering.

          Right, ok, thanks.

But again, the problem is not the slaves, it's the fact that V-Ray RT CUDA is not working on my main computer (again, not using any slaves here).
What could be preventing V-Ray RT GPU from starting? Does it require open ports? Special administartor privileges for a program it's using?

            Hi,

Do you see the V-Ray RT console window as soon as RT GPU is started? Are there any errors?
V-Ray RT for Maya requires port 20207 to be available in order to work without issues. Please check whether the V-Ray render slave is running as a service. If yes try to stop it and run RT again.
Did you try to render just a Sphere? For the latest V-Ray nightly builds (I see that you are using one of them) we have an issue with Dome lights.

Yeah, the console cmd window didn't open, but after turning off the registered render slave, it started to work. Thanks for the help!
