Failure Error creating curve function set!

Hi,

so we are making an effect that involves creating curves from particles. This obviously means that some curves are not built until the particle is emited which is apparently the cause of this error we are getting

: (kFailure): Unexpected Internal Failure
Error creating curve function set!

and its messing up our whole process. Is there a way around this?

We will need some way to reproduce the error here...

Hi Vlado,

The error comes from rendering curves that have 0 spans.

Since the curves are getting created by particles, at one point or another the curves have 0 spans

I am uploading as scene, simple, curve with no CV's

Thanks for attaching the file for this issue.

Actually the scene doesn't crash in my tests with Maya 2015 /V-Ray 2.40.02 and V-Ray 3 beta.
Could you please confirm your versions?

If I create a new scene with "0" spans spline oand add "renderable" V-Ray attributes, it renders without errors.

Can you tell us what vray version you're using?
The scene you attached renders without any errors on our end. Tested with 3.0, 2.40 and 2.55 nightly.

Its weird that you are not getting the error, I just recreated the scene, now with 2 curves and no spans and I still get the error

We are on Maya 2015 /V-Ray 2.40.02

We are not crashing with this scene, its when we get to a very high number of curves and are doing Vrscenes that we get crashes. On this scene its this error on the output window

Hi again and thanks for adding more details about this issue.
Actually the error appears in my tests too. I'm going to send the scene to our developers for further investigation.
