  • V-Ray 3.0504 DR -> loosing connections

    Hi Chaosgroup,

we are using the RC of V-Ray for Maya with Maya 2015 for the second project now. And everything works great so far.

But one thing is strange: When we work on a scene and use DR for test rendering, after several renderings only the local machine is rendering anymore. There is no error message appearing - like "Could not connect to host...."

When we restart Maya 2015 (Ext1 working under Windows 7) and open the same scene and render, the render slaves are back again.

Guess this is not very helpful...

    Hello Lars,

It is very strange because V-Ray should print a warning or an error message in the log. Would it be possible to attach the V-Ray logs from the main machine and one of the render slaves next time this issue occurs?

How do you start the V-Ray render slave, manually or is registered as a service?

We had the same issue with the same setup, the services are registered and set to automatic but after rendering you could see the service in task manager had stopped. So for some reason the service stops and needs to be started manually.

Is there anything meaningful in the V-Ray log file? It should be somewhere in the temporary folder for the user that the service runs as.

        Best regards,
        Vlado

I had this same problem this week was rendering and the first image was fantastic using DR then same file all the sudden the the DR machine stopped only the local kept going there was no info. I did a third image but restarted Maya 2015 and the machine and did not have a problem. Will check the temp log today but yeah I can second that I have had this issue.

Glad that we are not the only one... on the other side this news is not so joyful for you Tashko.

Had no time to check the logs so far. Problem is that often the DR rendering works fine. So it not easy to reproduce.

I'll try to render a less complex scene and try to render the same scene in series.

                Hi Svetlozar,

it is jinxed! DR works fine during our tests yesterday. No way to reproduce this strange behavior.

We keep on testing beside the work.

                Lars
