  • "Force Back Face Culling" box not available in Global options

I want to render an object with back face culling on, so after a bit of research in the documentation, I found this:
    http://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/V...Global+Options
According to the screenshot, the option should appear just above "Use Maya shader for V-Ray proxies"

However, the "Force back face culling" option is nowhere to be found in the global options tab or advanced tab.
I'm using the latest nightly built of Vray 3.0

Has it been moved or removed?

    Thank you

It has been removed as it doesn't work properly after some changes to the V-Ray core and we have not had time to go and reimplement it.

If you really must use it, there is a hacky way to do it, so let me know if you need more information.

    Best regards,

      Thanks for the info Vlado.
I was able to find a workaround since I'm working on a fairly simple scene, but it would be great to see this reimplemented in the future.

        Thanks

My situation was fairly simple so I was able to use an opacity map to reveal the inner geometry.

For a more complex scene you might be able to use a facing ratio node connected into the opacity of your materials, as long as your geometry and/or material is double sided.
I have not tried this method, but in theory it should work in most situations.

Not sure about the hacky way Vlado is referring to, but I'm curious to know what is the alternate solution too.

          Thanks

you should learn to model properly IMO
            give surfaces a thickness

I don't know exactly the work around that Valdo was talking about, but here is one simple solution

              backface.zip
              V-Ray/PhoenixFD for Maya developer

i think in this case he wants the surfaces to be single sided, so having a thickness would not exactly help.

                  This is not help?
                  It works also by Maya.
