  • V-Ray materials from 3ds Max -> Maya via vrscene problem

    Hi Support-Team,

we want to transfer the V-Ray materials from a 3ds Max scene to Maya via vrscene. Problem ist that, if we import the vrscene-file in Maya, the material comes in as a VRayPluginNodeMtl and not as a standard V-Ray Maya material. Which means that there is no bump connection and the values for the reflection glossiness and the IOR value are not transferred.

A standard 3ds Max material will come in as a standard V-Ray material.

    And way to change this?

Working with Maya 2015 and 3ds Max 2015 and V-Ray 3.x for both.

Attached you find a zip with a Max, Maya and vrscene file.

    Thanks,
    Lars

    Hello Lars,

This is a know issue, which we have to fix.
Meanwhile you can try to load the exported Vrscene file through our Vrmat material. The Sphere will be shaded the same way as in 3DS Max, but unfortunately it will be not editable.

      Thanks Tashko,

it's a pity that the data exchange between 3ds Max and Maya is still so bumpy. But I guess it has not the highest priority for many users and so not for you.

So, we will do some handwork again

      Happy holidays!
