  • vrayUserAttributes upper-case

    Hi,

I'm using the latest vray nightly build for maya 2015, on win 7.

It seems there's a problem with vrayUserAttribute and tags on file texture.
For an object with a vrayUserAttribute on it that defines a texture version : 'skintype=1'.
I've correctly set the file texture path to path/skin_<skintype>.jpg and it works.
But if I create a vrayUserAttribute on the parent group and set it to 'ACTORS' it does not work anymore.
Then changing 'ACTORS' to 'Actors' or 'actors' seems to be fine.

Is there an upper-case bug with the vrayUserAttribute ?
If so, could you do something to fix it or do I need to find a workaround ?

    Thanks,

    Max

Seems to work fine here. What VRay and Maya versions are you using and on what OS? I might have missed something.

      I don't remeber excatly wich nightly build we're using. It's Vray 30504 for Maya 2015 on Win 7 x64.
Here is a scene that reproduce the problem : http://we.tl/qChnWxkVsQ

Can you check what's the exact build number, you can get it from the Maya output window.
Your scene doesn't work on my end, I can confirm that, but if I make a new scene everything works fine. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what's wrong.

Do you get an error or warning when rendering, saying that "Bitmap file path/file.ext" failed to load?

Hmm, I just noticed that you have another user attributes attached to a group node higher in the hierarchy. This might have something to do with it.

Yes It is what I was trying to explain in the first place.
If you change the case of the user attribute attached to this group node it would works

Yes, sorry that I missed that in the beginning. I think the attribute should have some value assigned to it, otherwise it won't work. You can give the group node attribute some value (ACTORS=0 or ACTORS=ACTORS).

VRay should actually skip only the attribute that's missing a value (on the group node) and still evaluate the one below. I'll make a note about this in our bug tracker, but until we fix it I'm afraid you'll either have to assign a value to the group attribute or use non-upper case name for it.
