  • VRayFur crashing with nightly build 25592/25702.

    Hi!

I'm experiencing extreme instability (during rendering) with some of the latest nightly builds (25592 and 25702) when it comes to VrayFur. This includes VrayFurProperties-nodes created both in the stable 3.0 (build 2520 and in the previously mentioned nightly builds.

    I'm using maya 2015, ext1, SP5.

    Is this a known issue?

    Regards.

    Linus

    Hi,

Can you give us a scene for this issue? I'm not aware of such problems related to the V-Ray Fur node. It will be helpful to replicate the crash here.

        Thank you Linus.

We are able to replicate the crash (during the LC calculations) in our render tests. As soon as we have any more info on this, will update the thread.
Meanwhile you can render the scene using the latest official build.

Just adding to the thread that we are experiencing the crashes on Linux.

Meanwhile you can render the scene using the latest official build.
Do you mean an older non-nightly?

Hi again. I was informed that some parts of the Fur and Displacement code has been changed in the nightly builds and most probably error is a consequence of those changes. So the case is now logged to our dev. system.

Thank you for the great feedback.

Actually I haven't tried any older nightly builds, only the official V-Ray 3.00.01 version

Hi again Tashko, do you think this is fixed in the latest nightly?
I can't see any information on it in the release notes.

We're hoping to see a fix for this soon as we wish to use newer builds but we have problems with the fur causing crashing.
                  Best Regards,
                  Fredrik

Unfortunately this is not fixed yet. We will post here when we have news.
The case priority is now changed, so we expect to have a fix for this bug soon.

Just chiming in to see if there has been any progress on this issue...?
Unfortunately, we're hitting this crash on a daily basis now.

                            Hello,
I'm currently working on this issue and I've located the problem. For now, the easiest fix (until I solve this) is to disable the option of fur displacement (check "Ignore parent mesh displacement" option in fur properties).
