  • Texture Baking Issues

    Hi,

I am trying to bake simple GI into the diffuse textures for some very simple game assets. The mesh renders just fine normally, but when I attempt to bake the GI I get strange results. Does anybody have an idea what may be causing this?

    Cheers

You mean the black dots? What GI engine are you using?

Yes the black dots (issue A) and the black faces (issue B). You can guess where they are supposed to be, you can see the edges showing slightly. Baking engine is Texture Baking.

Have you checked if you got any double faces or geometry in the mesh? And that your normals are correct.
        Just a thought.

Checked mesh in every aspect: normals, merged vertices, duplicate faces, UVs overlapping. Everything is fine.

GI engine is BF/LC. But I tried every other combination as well.

            [FIXED]

For some unknown reason, everything in my scene was scaled x1000. Scaled everything back to 1 and know baking is working properly. However, it would be interesting to know why this was the issue. Is V-Ray working based on real-world parameters?

That's correct V-Ray works best with real-world size scenes.
It is physical accurate render engine and it is important to use real-world scale objects.
