  • comp does not match beauty pass

    Hi,

I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction here. I'm having issues with a comp of my render, it differs from the beauty pass and i can't figure out what i'm missing on elements

I've attached examples of the two renders and a list of elements i'm using in comp.

    You miss the Diffuse pass.
If the issue still persist please send us part of the scene to: support@chaosgroup.com (or attach it here) so we could investigate further.

i didn't think the diffuse pass was needed it i went with the ordinary lighting and GI pass. I thought i needed Diffuse when you worked with the RAW layers etc.

I'm still working on it to see whats causing the difference. But from what i can read on other forums, sometimes theres a model or an old shader that just doesn't work properly with Vray passes and thats why theres a difference.

Yes you are correct. The diffuse pass is not what you are missing (as thats baked into the lighting and GI pass).
Normaly I substract render elements, then do my correcting and add them back on when I wanna tweak it these days. But I actually noticed the same problem you have recently when I built my beauty from the passes from scratch. It was slightly more contrasty, just as you experience. I've never had this issue before.

Anyway, just to make sure its not something else that causes it, do you have your Dark and Bright multiplier both set to 1? I could be wrong, but I dont think those settings are affecting the render elements, if you tweaked them.

Can you send us the scene and render elements in order to check them in our environment?
Which version of V-Ray do you use, with which version is the scene created originally?
