Hi there,
I'm trying to set openCL devices for V-Ray RT, but the application (ocldeviceselect.exe) keeps crashing.
I'm running a 2010 Mac Pro 4.1 with an ATI Radeon 5870, nVidia GeForce GTX 970, and Xeon E5520 processors.
Maya is 2015 ext 1, OS is Windows 8.1, V-Ray is v 3.x (latest). All of these components have latest updates applied.
I've done the following:
No matter what I do, I can't get the openCL device selection utility to launch - it just immediately crashes. I've also tried changing UAC, running as administrator, etc.
Running openCL tests via CineBech and Geeks3D GPU Caps is fine - I'm even getting decent scores. So it would appear, at this time, that the issues seems to be with the openCL device selection. I understand that you can manually set the openCL devices via an environment variable - perhaps I should try doing this? If I do, I need to get an enumerated list of the openCL supported devices so I can modify the env file to load them for use with V-Ray RT.
Does anyone have any advice? I'm currently looking into AMD's APP SDK, which I was told is not neccessary for running openCL devices, but for developing apps. Seems like a long shot, but I don't see any other promising solutions at this time.
Thanks for your help!
Matt

I've done the following:
- uninstalled all graphics and openCL drivers, then reinstalled clean versions (via safeboot and DDU uninstaller)
- selectively removed each openCL device and then one-by-one, re-installed and re-enabeld, rebooting each time
- reinstalled Maya 2015
- reinstalled V-Ray for Maya
No matter what I do, I can't get the openCL device selection utility to launch - it just immediately crashes. I've also tried changing UAC, running as administrator, etc.
