Just rendered one frame without GI. Takes about 1h 30 minutes. Took refraction & reflection depth up to about 20, also adjusted the lights slightly to be more intense.

Do you guys have any suggestions on improving render times before I setup a new backburner job for tonight? Want to see if the problem still exists, but also want to know how to improve.

What render settings are used for the last rendering?
Would it be possible to attach the scene so we could see them?
You can remove everything from it and keep only the render settings.

I have been trying to optimize my scene for rendering to get my frames done faster but to no avail. I've been reading up this ( http://www.cggallery.com/tutorials/vray_optimization/ ) blog post and it has a lot of useful information on scene optimizing. I've been following the steps on the blog but can't seem to get the render times down.

I've also been incorporating tips I got from your replies and left out the GI, but render times are still a problem. The heavy refractions are hard to deal with, optimizing wise.

I'm including the scene that I have been busy with this afternoon, I incorporated most of the tips from http://www.cggallery.com/tutorials/vray_optimization/.

Thanks for taking a look at it.

I checked the scene settings. What caused the slow render time is most probably the high water material reflection/refraction subdivs, especially with combine with the glossiness. Another value that you can optimize will be the lights subdivs.
