  • Fireflies in reflectionpass

    Hi there,

I'm rendering a scene with vray 3.00.01 for maya 2014 on windows 7. I'm having a problem with fireflies in my reflection and reflection filter pass.
The scene is lit with one hdri with a max value of 20 in the lightest areas and two vray rectangle lights with with a ramp in the range 0-1 as a texture.

Couple of strange things are that my beauty does not seem to have these error, see attached screenshots.
Also rendering a single frame in my viewport looks fine, but as soon as I send the shot to our farm the fireflies start showing up.

I tried turning on the maxray intensity in the vray global settings and tried to remove any pure white values from the reflections color of my materials, but the fireflies still seem to render.

I'll try to strip one my the scenes down and upload them later today.

Its odd indeed. Probably best to post a scene but I can suggest turning on clamp and setting it to 2-3. Also subpixel mapping.

The high value in your hdr is probably contributing to the problem.

      Hello,

Yes, post the scene here or send it on support@chaosgroup.com for further investigation.

I've uploaded a file. Only problem is, I can't seem to recreate the error in the scene. We have had the error in multiple scenes on this project. It just very random, sometimes its there some times not.
I hope you guys can make something of this file.

        Cheers, Ivor

Thanks for the scene, the issue indeed doesn't appear when rendering locally.
Would you please give us more information how we could replicate it by rendering on the farm?

What exactly is your render farms setup, are you using a render manager or V-Ray DR etc?
What steps we should execute in order to replicate the same error?

Thank you very much in advance.

The issue didn't appear in our V-Ray DR tests here so I guess that you are using a render manager in your environment is that correct?
