  • V-Ray RT not working in GPU mode [Render host is not responding]

Hello, at the beginning when I had formatted the PC I remember testing the V-Ray RT and work in GPU mode.

But now in every scene I try to launch the RT GPU always shows this error message:
// Warning: line 1: Render host boxx-pc (127.0.0.1:20207) is not responding
Here are the informations about my system (I'm using V-Ray Nightly Builds on Maya 2015 SP6):

Make sure you don't have V-Ray running as a service.
After that, please check the log of the vray.exe process that is spawned when RT renderer is started.

Many many thanks Blagovest! Work like a charm

I do not know how it turned on, but now that I stopped it worked. I think it was in the V-Ray installation. At the end of the installation it asks if I want to turn on V-Ray Service.

I have two more questions. I can change this service to shut down forever or can cause a problem?

In windows 7 I remember once intalled: the Launch V-Ray license server. I did not need start it every time I turn on my computer. When I switched to Windows 8.1 have to open the license server every time. There algume way to leave it always on?

      Thank you for your attention!

You can remove the V-Ray spawner from the Windows services for the time being.

The license server on windows 7 was most likely registered as a windows service and has been started automatically with each windows logon.
You could do that on windows 8 as well, just click on Register V-Ray License server as a service from the V-Ray>Licensing>Administration folder in the Start Menu.

Thank you very much for your help Blagovest and Svetlozar.

But Svetlozar it seems that did not work:

Inside the folder VRay for Maya I could not find anything like that. Only in folder V-Ray License Server for x64.

Hi I am unable to get RT working as well, getting a Warning that the Host is not responding as well. '// Warning: line 1: Render host emartin-sm (127.0.0.1:20207) is not responding'

I checked my services and don't see Vray listed at all. The license server is running and I am able to use and render with Vray in Maya just fine, just can't get RT working

Tried 'Register Vray License Service' and got the same error 'failed to open registry key (1)'

Also, when I try running RT in a viewport window it just says 'Viewport RT is waiting for another vray rendering process to finish...' and never changes

              Vray RT log;

You are correct, I didn't noticed that this is a Maya section and the answer I posted is valid for V-Ray for 3DSMax.
For Maya you could register V-Ray License Server as a service from the License Server folder in the Start Menu:

Another option to do the same thing is to re-install the License Server with activated "Register V-Ray License Server" option:

Regarding the VRLService error - did you start the application with account with administrative privileges?
If not please try to run it as administrator and let us know if the same issue appears again.

It seems that V-Ray RT has been already started that's why it prints message that it is busy and the RT in the viewport is waiting.
Please make sure that there are no V-Ray services started and there is no running vray.exe process.

Regarding the 'failed to open registry key (1)' please check my previous post.
