  • Volumegrid + glass + deep

    Hi,
I working with fluid sim from Houdini (smoke), which is set over a glass building. I am rendering in deep.
My problem is that the smoke opacity and the glass opacity don't play well. I am getting a black alpha where the smoke overlap the glass.
To fix that I can increase the Max Transparency levels to 100, but my render time also increase quite a lot.

    Would there be another option?

    Thanks,

    Yannick

Which version of V-Ray do you use, because in the latest builds of Phoenix FD there is a fix for bug very similar to this issue?

        I am using 3.05.0425986
I am also having trouble with the velocity pass for the fluid and deep.

        Thanks.

I think we will need the scene for further investigation.

Can you try with latest nightly build and let us know if the issue still persist?

We have to wait for our pipeline guy to come back from holidays. But we will give it a try.
I will see if i can send a file, but I need to get this approved by production first.

            Thanks,

The alpha issue like Tsvetan mentioned should be fixed in the latest nightly builds.
Regarding the velocity pass issue would you please give us more information about it?
What exactly seems wrong with the velocity pass? Can you send us a screenshot of the issue? A reproducible scene would be very helpful, it doesn't have to be the production scene - if you could reproduce the issue on a sample scene with basic primitives only it would be even better.

Increasing Max Transparency values will affect render time as well, V-Ray needs to perform more calculations and that's why the render time increases a lot.
