  • Zdepth is 1 pixel bigger vs. Vray 2.4

    Hey guys,

we've encountered one big issue in our pipeline:

in Vray 3.0 the zDepth-pass is one pixel larger, which caused major problems to our client when layering them with depth.

We need to understand why this happens...

Our settings are the same in both versions (see screenshots).

Is it a feature or a bug?

    Cheers

    Dominik

What is your AA filter? Best to post a scene.

    Best regards,

      Hey Vlado,

sorry that I didn't answer yet... but for some strange reason our 2.4 licenses are causing some trouble, because after upgrading we lost the 2.4's...Didn't know that

We are in contact with our reseller to solve that -

After that I send you test scenes with the issue...

Hope we can figure that out

        Ok,

here are two scenes. One VR 2.4 and the other 3.0

The only difference in settings is in the one scene i have filter size of 2.5 and the other of 2.0... Cook Variable.

        Hope its useful for you!!

          One thing more to add:

I just made a third test with VR 3 with the same 2.5 pixels in AA like in the 2.4 scene.

Just a little difference on the edge compared to filter size 2.0 - but still this huge difference compared to VR 2.4.

I thought if rendering unfiltered depth no AA is applied at all??

          Regards

          Dominik

We are sorry to inform you but the issue is not resolved yet.
I could bump the priority a bit if it is an urgent matter - just let me know.

For the moment you can toggle the "invert z-depth" option and then invert it in post, if needed.

                              Best regards,
