  • VRAY 3.1 Black Reflections with ramps in lights.

    Hi Guys,

Wondering if you could help me out here. I am having an issue with rendering lights that have ramps in the texture slot.
I am using a layered texture with "alpha is luminance" ticked. I then have a gamma correct node plugged into that then a ramp. Nothing complicated just a simple black to white.
The problem is that instead of the light feathering off, it will still reflect black. This wasn't an issue in 2.4 as far as I am aware, is this something that is new, am I alone in having this issue? I have created a test scene so I can send that over if need be but here is a render.

It is just a full reflective sphere, with a come light and a light above it with said ramp in it.

    Any thoughts?

Yes, there are some changes about the textures alpha and lights (rect, dome, mesh).

There is an attribute in the light named rectTexA. This attribute has been available in the 2.4, but it was a bit buggy.
We've fixed the bugs and now if you want to make your texture to affect the alpha of the light you have to connect outAlpha to rectTexA.

If this is not the case we'll be happy to look at the scene.
