Since Vray 3.10 Upgrade, Linux renderslaves can't find license

Hi all,

Since the Vray 3.10 for Maya Upgrade on our 2 x workstations (Win 7 Pro x64) and 7 x renderslaves (Fedora 22 Workstation x64) ; our renderslaves could not obtain a license (-65533).
We also upgrade the vray license server with the files provided with the install of Vray 3.10, but it doesn't solve the problem...
Before with Vray 3.00 for Maya everything was fine, so it doesn't seems to be a firewall or network issue, as nothing was changed.

The weird thing is that when we render a shot (with deadline v7.1.0.35 R), if we connect to 192.168.0.17:30304 (where the dongle is plugged), all the Vray Render Node remain free (even if the workstations are rendering).

And also during DR jobs, all the renderslave kill the vrayslave and return this message :

"/usr/ChaosGroup/V-Ray/Maya2015-x64/bin/vray.bin" "$@" -server -portNumber=20207

So we had to manually restart the vrayslave...

Any idea?

Are you able to connect to the V-Ray license server from the render slaves (i.e. open a web browser and show the license server status page)?

Hi Vlado,

Yes I'm able to see the license server from all our renderslaves!
But the weird thing is that there is only 1 Vray Render Node 3.0 engaged...

All our renderslaves have the same set-up (Fedora 22 x64), and at the moment there is only one (randomly, it changes each time) renderslave that is able to render and get a license.
But it's really random...

Any updates about this issue? I've got a similar problem where I try to run vrayslave as a deamon on linux. It works if I run it manually. But as a deamon it does not work and I get the same license error as well.

Then most probably the V-Ray client license settings are not set for the user which is used by the vrayrslave deamon. Please keep in mind that V-Ray client license settings must be set per user and you either need to run the setvrlservice for each user or set the VRAY_AUTH_CLIENT_FILE_PATH environment variable globally, to point to the folder that contains the vrlclient.xml file with the V-Ray license server settings (IP address and port number).

You can edit vrlclient.xml with any text editor. Just make sure that the xml file has the proper access rights.
