  • Maya Extension 2016 - Look Dev Kit not supported?

    Hi guys,

I'm just wondering if the new lookdevkit plug in that comes with the Maya 2016 Extension is supported or not?

I just tried to run a texture through it's new colorCorrect node and it doesn't seem to be rendering...

...If it isn't, any sign of when it will be?

    Thanks

Not supported, but we're working on them.
We will report when they will be available.

As of yesterday, all the new lookdev nodes are supported by V-Ray.

Try them out using one of the latest nightlies.

Let us know if you run into any troubles.

We'll see if it makes sense. Almost all of the features that are in the Max version are also in Maya, so perhaps we will get enough feedback just from Max beta and for Maya we can get straight to the release.

            Best regards,

              Hi,

I'm getting this working with simple colorConstants, but not with a texture file or nodes like checker etc? This is with the latest stable 31001_maya2016_x64_26499 version.

What you have downloaded is the stable 3.1 release. Nightlies are named 315..., latest being vray_adv_31501_maya2016_x64_26564.rar.

                  I see these :
                  vray_adv_31501_maya2016_x64_26568.rar
                  vray_adv_31501_maya2016.5_x64_26568.rar

I guess the ".5" in maya2016.5 indicates it works with Maya Extension 1 ?

Nope, 2016.5 is a separate thing. For Ext1 you need the builds for 2016!

                        You must ask Autodesk
                        V-Ray/PhoenixFD for Maya developer

Well, for people that need that ".5" version, I hope they know it exists.

I keep asking support to get access to these, but they keep linking me to the stable folder. Which folder is vray_adv_31501_maya2016_x64_26568.rar contained in? The 'latest builds' section?

The ".5" release is for the current Maya beta. On that note, I'm experiencing major VP 2.0 issues that are only present when the latest V-Ray nightly is loaded using the latest Maya beta. Where would I report this? Not sure if I would report this on the Maya beta forums but I think I recall any V-Ray issues need to be handled on Chaos Group's end. Any help would be appreciated.
