  • Mac OS and RT ( CUDA freezes maya )

    Hi!

Because i'm running on MacOs I always had problems with the RT.
I love it using it on windows, but at work its really hard to get fast results.

Currently using CPU is being a good solution, its faster than not having any kind of RT.

I need to kill the service time to time, because it jams sometimes.

Using CUDA is currently working, but it just freezes the workstation, every time a make a change

The specs of the machine are on the image.

I would love to have a easy RT CUDA on Mac.

The Open CL doesn't work on my machine.

What version of Maya do you have ?
Can you please try to go into System Preferences / NVidia Driver Manager and check what version is your driver ?

When the machine freezes, do you have to reopen Maya, restart the OS or it just freezes for some time ?

      Maya 2016 sP1
      CUDA Driver Version: 7.0.64

Its freezes Maya, if I press ESC and wait it return to normal, but if I try to change anything in maya, it freezes .

This is strange. Does it happen with every scene ?
Also, could you please try changing the values of RT Bundles size to 32 and Rays Per Pixel to 1 in the V-Ray RT Settings tab ?

V-Ray RT starts as an external process, which is a console/terminal. Can you check what does it says when it freezes ?

If this doesn't help, you should probably write to support@chaosgroup.com to see if they can arrange remote session.

I will try in in different scenes.
I will return with some answers after one or 2 scenes.

It depends on the CPU, the scenes and the way you measure the performance.
If you can share the scene, we can give you hints on what is going on.
