Are there any plans on making shaders show up (and not render black) in the viewport when using VP2 + DirectX11?

Yes, but when the new VP 2.0 Maya API gets finished (Maya 2017 hopefully). The original API that we use currently requires direct programming of the GPU and is quite limited, so no plans to port it to DirectX. Btw, why would you like to use DirectX? Basically, these are different APIs to program the same thing. If one perform better then another, it's mostly because of a driver/software issue.V-Ray/PhoenixFD for Maya developer
