Error writing file

After 10 years of rendering, this one is a first. Any ideas as to what could cause this on a batch render?

Maya 2016 SP3, Windows 7. Writing as a PNG to D:\ which has no special permissions and thousand of renders completed in the past.

broken file system, locked by another application... Can you delete/create the file manually?

I don't think it is. Tried the same scene on my home computer and same result as my workstation at work. I can delete/create files manually. The render just always spits out that error message.

It doesn't seem to be writing with an extension. Unfortunately I have a horrendous deadline but I will try and get something to send in to you guys over the next week or two or investigate it further with a different format.

why it says cam_2.5

what is that? it might be naming of this output that's messing things up.

Exactly.

This is whats in the file name prefix;

<Camera>/<Camera>

and it's displaying masterlayer/persp/persp.png in the text under the VRay Common tab, so I've not entered it in correctly. Maybe something just corrupted in the vraySettings as i can render other scenes ok.

del vraySettings node and see if it helps. Nothing odd with that camera name obviously?

it can be something to do also with that point, can you test without it?

Thanks for the reply guys.

I deleted vraySettings however that caused a lot of issues as when V-Ray auto created the new vraySettings - all the settings were locked and couldn't be changed (even though they weren't locked in the UI with grey text).

I guess this is just a corrupted scene at the end of the day and not a bug (even though everything else in the scene was okay and it rendered in the UI just fine) - definitely one of the stranger things i've ever seen .

Is there a chance to send us that scene for investigation?
It might be corrupted scene like you said but it might be a bug.
