  • Limitations with Light Select?

    Hi,

Are there any limitations to light select render pass? Currently they only render out blank (black screen) for me when using it with V-Ray Area Lights. The illumination is fine because they appear in the beauty render.

On a simple test scene they work just fine in a render pass. Just wondering if you can't use it with certain situations.

    [2015/Dec/13|17:24:35] V-Ray: V-Ray for Maya version 3.10.01, revision 26499 from Nov 25 2015, 08:31:22
    Maya 2020/2022
    Win 10x64
    Vray 5

Actually I'm not aware of any issues with this setup. Would it be possible to send us one example scene to test with?

do you have "store with irradiance map" enabled for the lights?

No, they are regular lights. I'll try and compile a scene.

Wait - it's because probablistic lights are turned on. Even though they render in the beauty pass they will not work with light select. lightSelectBug.zip

Thank you. It is logged as a bug in our system.
According to my tests the issue occurs only when Probabilistic lights is set to 1.

We have the same problem with probabilistic lights set to 6, light select pass is black.

It should be the same issue, but just in case you can post or send us the file to support@chaosgroup.com

Thank you. It is the same issue, just found that the Probabilistic value must be bigger than the number of scene lights. For this particular scene "30" will make the lights visible in the light select element again. I will update the case in our system.

Thank you for the quick reply.

Do I understand it right, that this option only makes sense if its value is smaller than the number of lights in the scene?

                      Best regards,

Yes that's true, probably I will have more information when our developers start to work on it.
