Shave and Haircut crashes Maya

Hey Guys,

I am trying to render Shave9v42 with Vray and it causes Maya to crash. Even with simple scenes with just a poly sphere that has fur in it. Is there any work arounds or is anyone else having the same problems and was able to fix it?

sorry to hear your trouble. Is shave 9x supported by vray? are you running latest nightly for vray side? also what maya/vray versions and what os do you have?

I am using Maya 2016 and Vray 3.1. I have talked with the people at Shave and Haircut and they say the plugin should support Vray out of the box. But I am still getting fatal errors.

Do you have Mental Ray installed along with V-Ray?

We recently came upon a problem caused by duplicated Shave functions for both V-Ray and Mental Ray.

If you're hitting the same problem, you may solve it by turning off Mental Ray while working with V-Ray and vice versa.

just curious why you are trying shave if maya comes with xgen which is basically shave but better?
