  • Physical Sun & Sky leaving white rim around objects

    Hey guys,

I am using physical sun and sky to light my scenes.

However, I need to render everything in layers and comp later.

There doesn't seem to be an easy way/ correct way to hide the physical sky so that I can prevent a white rim around my objects when compositing. What is the solution to this?

If I disconnect the sky, the final GI result is not the same and if I were to click the make invisible button in the physical sun, that only hides the Sun disk.

    please help. thank you

What you can do in this case is to render against black background. Just detach the sky map from the Background texture slot in the Override environment settings and leave it only for the GI, Reflection and refraction slots.

You can also try to add Unpremult elements in front of your composition (if you are using Nuke)?

Yeah we are putting a black plane behind everything right now but I figured there has got to be a one click solution?

As for unpremult, no matter what, wouldn't the white from the sky mix by 50% along the edges meaning it would never work Perfectly.

        No, unfortunately.

Why don't you put the sky as a GI map only and leave the background map black as Tashko suggested? I mean the textures that are found in the "Environment" section of the V-Ray settings:

Hey guys yeah that's my fault. I thought I had tried disconnecting everything without any luck which I figured didn't make sense. I tried it again earlier today and it works now. Sorry and thanks
