  • Problems with Proxy / GPU rendering

Vray 3.3, Maya 2016, Windows 10, fast machine with dual 980 TI GFX cards.

I'm loading an alembic animation from Realflow (tried using both standard and VDB mesh types).

If I just load it as a standard alembic cache, Vray handles it just fine but I don't know how to get motion blur working. When I use a Vray Proxy, motion blur works, and IPR renders of every frame look perfect. However, when I do a batch animation render, the first frame is perfect but every frame after has these bizzare lines all over my proxy surface (see attached, very low quality test render). If I park on that frame, or play to it, the IPR looks perfect, it's only in batch mode that this happens.

The alembic file is about 3.5GB otherwise I'd attach a scene file.

    Ideas?

Is there a chance to send us only a few frames of the alembic cache so we can try it here? Or is the entire animation in one file?

Sorry I only have the full stitch, it's coming from another artist.

Not sure if this is the issue (I'm new to using Vray Proxies in general), but it appears that Vray is creating duplicates of the mesh at render time, that are offset by a frame. When I batch render, a bunch of transform nodes appear in my outliner that are invisible in the viewport, but when I select them in outliner I see a wireframe of my mesh and it's clearly offset by a frame in time.

Checking the "use alembic offset" option doesn't fix my problem.

OK I have a few frames from the alembic sequence for troubleshooting, but they are 135MB per frame so I can't just upload them through the forum.

After further experimentation, It seems that the problem is limited to GPU rendering, and the issue of transforms being created that I refer to above seems more related to having Maya Alembic Caches in the scene, and isn't related.

I have experimented with all manner of settings with regard to the proxy start offset and I just can't seem to correct the issue through settings. I'm wondering if it's some kind of bad data in the Realflow alembic, because the Vray Proxy node seems to want to apply pretty wild offsets or sequence override settings if I let it.
