  • Reflection Subdivision greyed out/ locked

    Hello,

Since upgrading to 3.3 I'm having an issue where the reflection subdivision slider is greyed out and locked. Tried this in a brand new scene with a brand new material and seems to be consistent on all of the machines that we've upgraded to 3.3. Any ideas?

    Thanks for your help,
    Ben

There's been a bigger change in how sampling is handled. You can enable 'use local subdivs' in the dmc sampler rollout of the render settings to get the subdiv slider back to work.

(But then you also might want to change the min shading rate and the max subback to a lower value. VRay is now trying to make it as easy as possible to get good results when startign out with a new scene.)

That's great, thanks for getting back so quickly.

You can take a look here: http://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/V...plerParameters
When use local subdivs is disabled, V-Ray will use the Min Shading Rate to control the image quality.

Thanks, that makes sense. I've just noticed that the subdivs in the camera dof override tab has gone. Is that now just controlled with the adaptive subdivs in the image sampler?

Since V-Ray 3.0 camera DoF is controlled by the AA samples.
