  • Cannot animate Color Gain anymore in a file node

    Hello,

We are animating the Color Gain of a file node (connected to the Diffuse Color of a VRayMtl).
But VRay always uses the Color Gain value from first frame, it never changes over time.

It used to work on our old setup (Maya2015/VRay 3.0), but it doesn't work anymore on our new setup :
    -Maya 2016 Extension 1 + SP5.
-VRay "nightly" nightly build 26637 (released on february 12th 2016)
    -Windows Seven 64bit.

Is this a known bug ?

    Thanks.

It is, or rather - it was, since we fixed it a few days after 12 Feb. You can update to any nightly from 17 Feb 2016 or later and it will work.
That's the risk of using nightlies, though, you should be aware of it - sometimes we break stuff unintentionally and a few days or more might pass before we fix it

      Thanks.
Today I have downloaded the latest nightly, and I don't see this fix in the release notes (I have compared my file and the newest).
Are there fixes that are not listed in the release notes ?

      Cheers.

You can't rely on the release notes of the nightlies. Those are only relative to the official releases. I think this particular fix is noted somewhat different, since it affects more than just the file node's color gain, so it's a more general thing.

Use the 3.3 official or nightlies after its release where a lot of things were fixed.

When you say nightlies, do you mean the "stable" nightlies, or the "nightly" nightlies ?

We currently use a "nightly" nightly (february 12th), so if we switch to a "stable" nightly we could have problems in some existing maya scenes (because some features/functions may not be already included in the "stable" branch).

Regardless of the nightlies. The 3.3 official has actually quite more stuff then the nightly from 12.

That's exactly the reason. Also stable nightlies and 3.3 have a lot less differences in terms of features than stable nightlies vs. nightlies or 3.3 vs. nightlies.
