  • vfb - astronomical stuff

    Hi,

    many times when I press render the vfb dissapears from monitors (dual setup) and I find out later, by looking at the vrayvfbuser.xml that the window has gone into astronomical x-y vfb position.

    Example:
    <vrayVFBUser>
    <VFBPlacement>
    <xVFBPosition>8</xVFBPosition>
    <yVFBPosition>-4570054446</yVFBPosition>
    </VFBPlacement>
    </vrayVFBUser>

    The only solution is to close down Maya - hunt down this file xml file and edit it to 0 (zero) and restart Maya.
    Is it possible that vray has some function implemented that those crazy numbers can't be exceeded past the resolution of the screen?

    thanks
    Peter

    Hi,

    Is it possible that vray has some function implemented that those crazy numbers can't be exceeded past the resolution of the screen?
    For the latest versions this what we are trying to do, but there still are occasions where it doesn't work well.
    Please let me know the exact V-Ray version that you are using.
    Can you try to re-save this scene ? After vrayvfbuser.xml is edited and VFB is visible on the main monitor. Does it work this way ?

      I am using latest nightly. Hasn't happened in a week but next time it does I ll let u know

      Vray should never write a number higher than a certain amount... Numbers like -44837373733 should make it write 0 into the XML. Just a suggestion.

      And by the way. Yes it works closing down maya, editing to value of 0 and then reopening maya file with zeroed out VfB.

      Thanks

        Yes this is exactly what we are trying to do, but there are other factors that can brake this functionality. For an example Maya also use to store information about the frame buffer in the file.
