  • Vray RT slow and/or doesn't update most of the time

    Hi,
I have my Vray RT set in Maya with the default settings. It doesn't seem to update after I make changes to my HDR lighting (using a vray dome light). It may update once or twice but then it just kind of "dies". I have to close the RT window, and launch it again to see my lighting changes. Any tips of configuring settings for better feedback? The real time view is so important to me-I love working in Keyshot and seeing my changes as I work. I'd love a similar experience in Maya with Vray.

    Thanks,
    Darlene

What V-Ray and Maya version you are using?
Would it be possible to send us the scene you have issues with for investigation?
Have you tested if V-Ray RT works fine on a very simple scene like a box and a dome light?

Lowering Ray Bundle Size and Rays Per Pixel values should increase the performanse, try to decrease them to their minumum of 1 and see if it work faster.

        Hi,
Yes lowering those settings is helping. I am using a Vray Blend material and perhaps that's what's slowing it down a bit. If I run into more problems I'll send you a sample file. Thank you.

Please also make sure that "undersampling" is set to 4 in the IPR tab of V-Ray settings.
If you are opening an old scene with 3.40.01, the undersamlping attribute could get initialized with a slow value.
This should be fixed if you open an old scene with 3.40.02.
