It seems the crashes can be addressed to this specific Maya version - 2014. Tested the scene of 2016, 2017 and Rt/IPR works a lot more stable even if i follow every step that crashes V-Ray / Maya 2014.

The issue is now logged into our bug tracker and our developers will work on it.

I noticed the same thing. Doing IPR with the original scene in Maya 2017 and newer nightly builds is fairly stable. I haven't experienced any crash so far. Hope you find what's causing the crash for Maya 2014/V-Ray.
      always curious...

It is a Maya bug if I remember correctly.
I think they fixed it with one of the service packs.
What exact version are you running?

I installed Maya 2014 SP4. But telling from the my the version number of 16.0.0.0 in Control Panel, I assume it's still the first release of Maya 2014.
So you are saying maybe the crash can be addressed if I make sure upgrading to the latest Maya 2014 service pack?

I think so, but I might be wrong. I think some of the crashes disappeared with SP3.
Use Help -> About Maya to check which service pack you have installed.

That's exactly where I went to check and it shows no SP.
Tashko, are you able to re-produce this crash in Maya 2014 SP4 with the sample file I uploaded?

The same happened here after installing SP4 so I went through a new installation process with Maya 2014 SP3 and now IRP/RT works more stable with your scene. Just a few minutes of testing but no crashes while working on the scene lighting.

Funny that SP3 is more stable than SP4 in this regard. Can you confirm it's good to go in SP3 after some more tests on your end and I will update my Maya 2014 to SP3.

                  Thanks!

I think it is save to update to SP3.
