  • relaunch a render node after Vray render slave crassh

    Hi,

Before , when a render slave was crashing, I just had to re-launch Vray render Slave and after a few seconds, it was re-taking part of the current render,
wich was still rendering on other render nodes.

Now if I re-launch a render slave, it does'nt see that there is a rendering on the farm and stay on listenig mode without doing anything.
    (and it's bad !) (Maya 2016 to Maya 2017 Vray 34004)

Is there a way to say to a render slave : "hey there is a current render on the farm, move your a.. and let's go render it ! " ???

    Thanks.

The render slave need some time before it picks-up the job. In example on a simple scene (a sphere and a light) it took 20 seconds to start rendering again. Can you do the test on a simple scene and check whether the render slave will pick up the job after restart? Also what is the OS that you are using?

      Hi,
With a sphere and a light ... same result, re-launched node stay in listening mode

OS everywhere on the farm is Windows 7 SP1.

Could you please double check whether you are using the same V-Ra version all of the machines? Also can you attach vray4maya_log files from the main machine and the render slave?

Thank you for posting the log files for this issue Philippe.

The DR broadcasting messages seem to be broken in V-Ray builds for Maya 2016.5 and 2017. I've sent a bug report about that to our devs and will get back to you when the fix is available.

Edit: Do you have Windows Firewall enabled on the main workstation ?

Do you have Windows Firewall enabled on the main workstation ? We found something and need to know what is the setup at your side.

Yes, it's enabled, I'm launching a render right now with FW off and try to re-lanch a slave, I'll keep you informed in a few minutes.

                    No joy ...
With master and slave's firewall off, nothing changes, interupted slave doesn't come back to current rendering

OK, last try. Do you have Antivirus software? If yes, please stop it for a minute and test again.
I found what was the issue in my machine and DR slave. There was missing Maya Exception in Win Firewall settings. So probably we can continue troubleshooting this via remote session ?

                        Hi,
Sorry for the delay but the farm is running 24/7 ... as I do ...

okay, then I've tried with no antivirus (only one on the master) but no change.

I've re-installed Vray service and wibuKey service with the last versions, but it didn't change anything.

It's not an "everday problem" but recently I had to render 20 K still image and it's very frustrating to see one or two crashed nodes waiting ...while deadline's coming dangerously

                            Of course, no problem.

I'll reach you by MP next week, I think I can find a few hours for this, do I need to be near the farm, because I'm using it remotly 99% of the time ...

                            Thanks Tashko !
