  • Discrepancy between Vray Versions

    Hello,

We are having a problem with renders for versions of vray for Maya beyond 3.40.01. We have tried 3.40.03 and 3.40.04 and get the same problem.

The issue is that our characters aren't being lit properly, this is most obvious in our RAW light pass. Our GI settings are BF/BF.

We want to be able to use a nightly/later stable build as the motion blur on VRscenes has been fixed.

The characters have a fairly basic shader on them, nothing unusual.

    Thanks,
    Nick.

It would be best to either post a scene or send it to support@chaosgroup.com so that we can investigate what is different. The scenes that we have don't seem to exhibit this issue.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

If you disable the normal map - do the characters illuminate? if yes, then please make sure you are handling the normal map color space correctly. I believe it should be set to RAW.

It seems we were having the same problem a number of other people were having with the lighting elements (including yourself )

        Got it sorted now.

        Thanks!
