  • Distributed Rendering Buckets error

Some problems just happen and after a while disappear - so i dont report them. This one however has been happening for many months so its time to say something
This happens when i render from either of two computers (workstation or laptop).
GI phase completes as normal. When it comes to rendering the image though, the buckets on the screen start multiplying and they dont work - the image doesnt progress beyond about 15%.
For example, a typical render node should be showing 8 buckets - but with this problem it will start showing a lot more than 8 buckets (i havent counted exactly how many). All the nodes display the same problem. So for example, in a normal situation the buckets would cover about 25% of the image while it is rendering (based on 7 nodes and each with 8 buckets). In this wierd situation, about 90% of the image gets covered with the madly replicating buckets.
    The rendering cannot finish.
Only solution is to turn off DR.
    Help ?

Does it happen for every scene? I think sometimes something in the scene causes the render nodes to crash and behave abnormally. If it is scene-specific it would be good if we can take a look at the scene.

I am not 100% sure if it is scene specific. I am sending you the entire scene in an email. thx !

We can't reproduce the issue in our environment. Could you please let us know which V-Ray and additional plugins versions are you using ? Also can you send us vraylog.txt files from the master machine and the slaves to support at chaosgroup.com?
Furthermore can you reproduce the issue when Distributed rendering with one slave machine only? Could you check whether all machines are using the same V-Ray/additional plugin versions?

Can you do me a favour and move this thread to the correct location (3dsMax problems).
I am experiencing this problem on multiple different scenes and on different computers too - so i will gather some details for you and hope to have time next week to do this ! thx

Hello again. Without having had time to go into details, my best guess (from an initial test with a scene that does not use these plugins) would be that this is related to either Forest Pack/Railclone OR Laubwerk. My computers have a mixture of two different versions of at least one of these (the very latest version + the previous version of those plugins). Vray is all updated to very latest versions.

im pretty sure now that the problem was caused by the presence of different versions of the laubwerk plugin across the various render nodes.
